- MARKWalk through a square to mark it. Each square is one 100 m Ordnance Survey grid plot, so one plot is one hectare.
- LOOPBring the walk back home and every plot inside your loop joins your patch.
- HOMEYour home stays private. Plots within 200 m of where a walk starts and ends are never claimed, and that part of your route isn’t drawn, so nobody can work out where you live.
- ×5Walk your patch daily to keep it. Each repeat walk adds a pip. A rival needs one walk per pip to take a plot.
- FINDPass a dog bin, dog water or dog-friendly pub to log a find. Bins come from OpenStreetMap.

Keep the screen on during a walk. Phones pause web apps when the screen locks, so a walk with the screen off records gaps.
